System76 Adder Pro Gets a Major Upgrade With Intel Panther Lake, OLED Display, and RTX 5070 Graphics
System76 has unveiled a new version of its Adder Pro gaming laptop, and it looks like a serious option for Linux users who want high-end performance without giving up a sleek, modern design. The refreshed 15.3-inch laptop brings together Intel’s latest Panther Lake hardware, Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series laptop graphics, and a fast OLED display aimed at gamers, creators, and power users.
At the heart of the new System76 Adder Pro is Intel’s Core Ultra 7 356H processor. This chip uses a 16-core configuration made up of 4 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 4 low-power cores. That setup should give the laptop plenty of strength for demanding workloads, from gaming and software development to content creation and multitasking.
Graphics options include the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU and the more powerful RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. For users who want higher frame rates, better ray tracing performance, and stronger creative app acceleration, the RTX 5070 configuration will likely be the more appealing choice. With the right cooling setup, the higher-end GPU is expected to deliver a noticeable performance boost.
The display is one of the biggest highlights. System76 has equipped the new Adder Pro with a 15.3-inch OLED panel featuring a 2560 x 1600 resolution, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. That combination makes it well suited for both fast-paced gaming and productivity. The taller 16:10 screen gives users more vertical space for coding, editing documents, browsing, or managing creative timelines.
Unlike many gaming laptops, the Adder Pro uses a glossy OLED display. This should help colors appear richer and more vibrant, with deeper contrast and a sharper overall image. However, the glossy finish may be more reflective in bright rooms or outdoor environments, so users who often work under strong lighting may want to keep that in mind.
System76 is also giving buyers room to configure the laptop for heavy workloads. The new Adder Pro supports up to 96 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, which is a generous amount for gaming, virtualization, programming, video editing, and other memory-hungry tasks. Storage is handled through two M.2 slots, supporting 2280 and 2242 drives, giving users flexibility for fast SSD upgrades.
Despite its powerful internals, the new Adder Pro remains relatively slim, measuring just under 20 mm thick. That makes it an interesting choice for users who want a performance-focused Linux laptop that is still portable enough for daily use.
Port selection is practical as well. The laptop includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, HDMI, and 1G Ethernet. This gives users enough connectivity for external monitors, wired networking, peripherals, storage devices, and gaming accessories.
The updated System76 Adder Pro is expected to go on sale around the middle of the month. Pricing has not yet been announced, but given the combination of an OLED display, Intel Panther Lake processor, RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 graphics, and high memory support, this new Linux gaming laptop will likely sit in the premium category.
For users searching for a powerful System76 laptop, a Linux-friendly gaming machine, or an OLED gaming laptop with modern Intel and Nvidia hardware, the new Adder Pro looks like one to watch.
