The highly-anticipated System Shock Remake, which revamped the classic 1994 action-adventure, is extending its reach to console gamers. The title, initially launched for PC, is now set to debut on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms, according to an announcement by the game’s developer, Nightdive Studios.
The console release date is slated for May 21st, as revealed in a recent trailer posted on Nightdive Studios’ official YouTube channel. The remake promises to deliver an experience true to the original’s essence, putting players in the shoes of a resourceful hacker challenging the malevolent artificial intelligence, Shodan.
While the developer has confirmed the upcoming console release, it remains to be disclosed if System Shock Remake will be presented in physical form or limited to digital distribution. There’s also no current information regarding potential versions for Mac and Linux systems.
As for accessibility, the game is currently available on PC, compatible with platforms like Steam Deck, and supported on select gaming hardware including Asus ROG Ally (presently valued at $899 on Amazon) and the Lenovo Legion Go.
Gamers on PlayStation and Xbox platforms can soon join in on the cybernetic suspense and action that System Shock has to offer, with just a wait of a few more weeks until the title becomes available for their consoles.
