Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Launch Reportedly Pushed Back in Latest Microsoft Rumour

Fresh chatter from reliable leaker Roland Quandt suggests Microsoft’s next wave of Surface devices may not arrive as soon as many fans expected. The upcoming lineup, which includes the Surface Laptop 8 and the Surface Pro 12, is now rumored to be running behind schedule, with Microsoft reportedly pushing the launch back by around a month.

While delays in consumer tech aren’t unusual, this one is drawing extra attention for a second reason: pricing. Quandt claims the prices for the new Surface hardware are “so bad,” hinting at a potentially significant hike without sharing exact figures. Adding fuel to the speculation, early retailer listings out of the Netherlands indicate the Surface Pro 12 could cost dramatically more than the model it replaces, with some configurations reportedly landing up to 65% higher than the previous generation.

If these rumors hold up, the delay may be tied specifically to Microsoft’s upcoming Intel-based Surface models, which are expected to use Intel’s next-generation Panther Lake platform. A one-month shift could potentially move the launch window into July, though it’s still unclear where Microsoft will officially land on timing.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Snapdragon-based alternatives are thought to be on a different schedule. The Surface devices powered by the next Snapdragon platform, often referred to as Snapdragon X2, are rumored to arrive later—somewhere between July and September 2026—suggesting a staggered release strategy across different processor options.

For now, there’s another key detail missing: official imagery. No confirmed product photos of the Surface Laptop 8 or Surface Pro 12 have surfaced yet, leaving shoppers to rely on leaks and early retail signals. Until Microsoft makes an announcement, the biggest questions remain whether the delay will affect all Surface models equally, and just how steep the price increase could be when the new Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 finally debut.
