Stunning 96.5% Efficiency Achieved

As the demand for high-efficiency power supply units (PSUs) rises, a new benchmark is setting the standard—introducing the 80 PLUS Ruby certification. This new level aims to surpass the existing 80 Plus ratings by delivering unparalleled efficiency.

CLEAResult has unveiled the 80 PLUS Ruby rating, which is designed to maximize energy efficiency in data centers. Traditionally, PSU efficiency ratings range from 80 Plus to 80 Plus Titanium, with the latter being the highest standard. However, the introduction of the 80 Plus Ruby now offers even greater efficiency.

This latest certification can achieve up to an impressive 96.5% efficiency on typical loads. While a 0.5% increase over the Titanium rating may seem minimal, it can significantly impact energy savings and performance in large-scale data centers.

The Ruby-rated PSUs outperform the Titanium standard across various loads. Specifically, at 50% load, Ruby achieves higher efficiency and maintains this superior performance at 10%, 20%, and 100% loads, with efficiencies of 91%, 95%, and 92%, respectively. Remarkably, it can reach 90% efficiency at just a 5% load, making it ideal for scenarios with minimal resource demands.

Delta Electronics, a prominent Chinese PSU manufacturer, is leading the way by introducing a 5,500W PSU for AI servers that achieves 97.5% efficiency. While we can expect more Ruby-certified PSUs in the data center market, it is unlikely that this certification will soon be available in consumer-grade PSUs.

This new standard not only enhances power efficiency but also sets a new benchmark for the industry, championing both performance and sustainability.
