MetaPCs has opened preorders for the Steamroller, a new prebuilt gaming desktop that stands out for one major reason: it ships with SteamOS installed out of the box. While gaming PCs with powerful AMD hardware are common, modern desktop systems designed around Valve’s Linux-based gaming platform remain rare, making the Steamroller an interesting option for players who want a console-like Steam experience without building a PC themselves.
The Steamroller is priced at $1,299 and is aimed at gamers who want a ready-to-play desktop built for Steam gaming. Instead of Windows, the system arrives with SteamOS preinstalled, giving users direct access to the Steam library, a controller-friendly interface, and a setup that may appeal to fans of the Steam Deck experience who want more desktop-class performance.
Inside the Steamroller is an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X processor paired with an AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics card.
