Steam Achieves New Milestone with Record 38 Million Concurrent Users!
Steam continues to break its own records with a recent surge in concurrent users, surpassing 38 million for the first time ever. The popular gaming platform hit an impressive 38.3 million concurrent users, shattering its previous record of 37.2 million from just a month ago.
2024 is shaping up to be a remarkable year for Steam as it consistently sees an upward trend in user engagement. Notably, the average number of concurrent players remains above 30 million, illustrating the platform’s growing popularity.
One significant contributor to this spike is the release of the highly-anticipated game, Black Myth: Wukong. This title alone saw around 2.3 million concurrent players at its peak. While it no longer stands at that high, the game still attracts up to half a million concurrent players during peak times and averages over 100,000.
In addition to Black Myth: Wukong, the multiplayer favorite Counter-Strike 2 leads the charts with around 1.45 million peak concurrent players and an average of over 900,000. Dota 2 follows closely, boasting over 700,000 peak concurrent players and maintaining a steady average of over 600,000.
The trend of increasing concurrent players is evident across the top 10 most-played games on Steam, most of which are free-to-play multiplayer games. This surge is also reflected in the PC hardware market, which sees consistent growth in shipments each quarter. Interestingly, AI-powered PCs are gaining traction and are projected to make up 60% of all PC shipments by 2027.
Steam’s user-friendly platform and easily navigable interface continue to make it the top choice for PC gamers worldwide. Hosting over 100,000 games as of June 2024, Steam continually expands its library with thousands of new titles in various genres every year.
With its robust infrastructure and increasingly diverse game offerings, Steam shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to dominate the PC gaming landscape.
