Steam Deck LCD Replacement Battery Returns, But the Price Is Much Higher Than Before
Steam Deck LCD owners finally have some good news: replacement batteries for the original handheld are back in stock. However, there is a catch. The battery is now significantly more expensive than it was before, which may frustrate users who were waiting to repair or extend the life of their device.
The concern started when the Steam Deck LCD replacement battery disappeared from iFixit’s store. Some owners began to worry that Valve could be moving away from supporting replacement parts for the original LCD version of the Steam Deck. Those concerns grew after a company representative suggested that Valve may have been beginning to phase out some parts.
That worry was later eased when iFixit confirmed that Valve had reached out and that more Steam Deck LCD batteries were on the way. The new stock has now arrived, meaning users can once again purchase an official replacement battery for the original Steam Deck model.
Unfortunately, the return comes with a noticeable price increase. Before selling out, the Steam Deck LCD replacement battery was priced at $79.99. Now, the same battery is listed for $129.99. That is a $50 jump, making the repair much more expensive for owners who were hoping for an affordable battery replacement.
The Steam Deck LCD battery Fix Kit has also increased in price. This kit includes helpful repair tools such as a spudger, plastic cards, angled tweezers, opening picks, a precision bit driver, and 4mm precision bits. The Fix Kit is now priced at $134.99.
For comparison, the Steam Deck OLED replacement battery has not received the same price increase. It is still listed at $79.99, while the OLED battery Fix Kit remains at $84.99. This creates a noticeable price gap between replacement batteries for the LCD and OLED versions of Valve’s handheld gaming PC.
At the moment, there is no official explanation for why the Steam Deck LCD battery has become so much more expensive. It is also unclear whether the Steam Deck OLED battery will see a similar price hike once the current supply runs out and a new batch becomes available.
For Steam Deck LCD owners, the battery’s return is still important. A worn-out battery can reduce playtime, make the device less portable, and affect the overall gaming experience. Having access to replacement parts helps extend the lifespan of the handheld and gives users more control over repairs.
Still, the higher cost may make some owners think twice before replacing the battery. While $129.99 is cheaper than buying a new handheld, it is a steep increase compared to the earlier price. For users who rely on their Steam Deck daily, the repair may still be worth it, but the price jump is likely to be disappointing.
The Steam Deck remains one of the most popular handheld gaming PCs, and long-term repair support is a major concern for many owners. The return of the Steam Deck LCD battery shows that replacement parts are still available, but the new pricing raises fresh questions about repair affordability going forward.
