Crashlands is back on the radar for bargain hunters and RPG fans alike. Available on Steam since 2016, this 2D open-world adventure casts you as Flux Dabes, a galactic trucker who crash-lands on a strange planet and stumbles into a plot that threatens the entire world. What starts as a routine cargo pickup quickly turns into a fight for survival and a quest to save the planet.
You can play solo or team up in co-op, but either way you’ll face a roster of tough enemies and memorable boss battles. Progress hinges on preparation and strategy: you’ll need to study attack patterns, mix and match skills, and use every tool at your disposal to come out on top.
Crashlands packs a surprising amount of depth:
– More than 500 items to unlock as you explore, all managed through an infinite inventory.
– A cast of characters who lend a hand and help you grow stronger.
– New areas and missions that open up as your power increases.
– Creatures you can enlist to assist in battle.
– Optional stories, mysteries, and secrets to uncover along the way.
Reception over the years has been largely positive, with praise for its world, progression, and breadth of features. Some players, however, have noted occasional bugs, particularly in co-op, and a few found certain stretches of gameplay repetitive. Even so, the game earned a spot among Time Magazine’s best games of 2016 and holds a 78 on Metacritic.
If you’ve been curious, there’s a great reason to jump in now: Crashlands is currently discounted to $1.49 on Steam, with the offer running until November 18. This is an easy recommendation for anyone who enjoys exploration-driven RPGs, boss-focused combat, and a steady stream of gear to chase.
