SoundCloud is tuning up its platform by teaming up with Ticketmaster and Universe, part of the Live Nation family, to offer artists a chance to showcase their events in a personalized way right on their profiles. This innovative collaboration aims to create more promotional opportunities for musicians, although the specifics behind these future plans are still under wraps.
For artists subscribed to SoundCloud’s premium Pro plan, the Universe self-serve ticketing platform becomes a new tool at their disposal. This feature allows them to manage and display their events directly on their SoundCloud profiles, giving them full control over which events to highlight. Artists can easily pull their event data from popular ticketing services like Ticketmaster and Dice, ensuring their event schedule stays up-to-date. Moreover, they can manually add links to their page if they prefer using other ticketing platforms.
To boost visibility, SoundCloud plans to feature these events on its homepage through a concert discovery widget, leveraging Ticketmaster data. This widget allows users to filter events based on location, timing, and music genre, facilitating a more tailored event discovery experience. As part of the partnership, SoundCloud receives a 1% share from any affiliate ticket sales conducted via Ticketmaster links on its platform.
Prior to this new feature, SoundCloud integrated with Resident Advisor, showcasing up to three events for artists without offering any customization options.
As music streaming services increasingly turn their focus toward event promotion and ticket sales, this latest move by SoundCloud is a significant step forward. It’s noteworthy that Spotify has also delved into this domain, experimenting with direct ticket sales through its app in 2022. Additionally, Spotify is reportedly considering a $6 monthly subscription for devoted fans, potentially granting them early access to concert tickets.
By enhancing concert promotion capabilities, SoundCloud is not only providing a new revenue stream for artists but also enriching the user experience, making it easier for fans to connect with live music experiences they love.
