Sony Expands Its Smartphone Range with the Launch of Xperia 10 VI Featuring Snapdragon 6 Gen 1
Sony has recently expanded its smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Xperia 10 VI, an addition to its mid-range segment, following the predecessor Xperia 10 V. This newly unveiled model offers a mix of standard specifications at a price that aims to align with its features.
The Xperia 10 VI is positioned alongside the more premium Xperia 1 VI, but it is the Xperia 10 VI that is targeted towards those seeking a balance between performance and cost. The device showcases a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display, which sticks to a 60 Hz refresh rate—a choice that seems conservative compared to the 120 Hz offerings common even in the entry-level market today. Despite this, the Xperia 10 VI ensures durability with its IP68 rating, signaling dust and water resistance.
Internal specifications of the Xperia 10 VI include the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 128 GB. At this time, it seems this is the sole configuration offered by Sony, though users do have the option to expand storage via a microSD card slot.
The camera system on the Xperia 10 VI presents a capable 48 MP main sensor complemented by an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. A similar 8 MP camera is available on the front for selfies and video calls. The device is further equipped with a substantial 5000 mAh battery, promising extended usage times. The Xperia 10 VI comes with Android 14 and is assured to receive three years of OS updates and four years of security patches. Charging capabilities are supported by 30 W fast charging technology. For those who prefer traditional headphones, a 3.5 mm audio jack is maintained and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Sony is offering the Xperia 10 VI in a trio of elegant color choices: Blue, White, and Goji Black. The launch price is set at €399/£349. Pre-orders are already available through Sony’s official channels, where the phone is bundled with a pair of WH-CH520 headphones as a promotional gift. While the exact dates for availability are yet to be announced, potential buyers can look forward to additional updates.
The Xperia 10 VI represents Sony’s latest effort to capture the mid-range market. It offers a suite of features that are likely to appeal to consumers looking for a reliable smartphone experience without breaking the bank. The straightforward approach Sony has adopted in pricing and providing straightforward specifications is a testament to its strategy of appealing to budget-conscious tech enthusiasts.
