SNES DOOM Release Preorders Open with Exclusive Limited Edition Controller from Limited Run Games

Limited Run Games has unveiled pre-orders for the eagerly awaited physical SNES release of DOOM, crafted with the expertise of Randal Linden, an original programmer of the iconic game. This launch promises a blend of nostalgia and innovation, delivering an authentic yet enhanced experience.

The pre-order window is now open for the DOOM SNES physical cartridge and the exclusive DOOM-themed SNES controller, whimsically named Hell’s Nightmare, until August 8. This release is more than a mere revival of the classic; it introduces “impossible graphics tricks” and additional levels absent from the original SNES version. Enhancements like circle-strafing and respawning monsters on the formidable Nightmare Difficulty are also part of the package.

Adding to the excitement is the Hell’s Nightmare SNES controller, featuring rumble vibration technology. This tech will be available for third-party developers interested in incorporating it into their games, nurturing a spirit of community innovation.

Collectors have enticing options. The standard edition offers a 12 x 16 SNES poster, a retro-themed box, and an instruction manual. For the truly dedicated, the Collector’s Edition boasts a premium embossed foil box, limited to just 666 copies, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

In the past, Limited Run Games encountered challenges as concerns arose over the safety of their retro cartridges, with some fans reporting issues with the hardware. Additionally, the company faced criticism for shipping re-released 3DO games on burnt CD-R discs instead of proper pressed discs, leading to a public apology.

With their latest release, Limited Run Games aims to reaffirm its dedication to quality, expanding their retro collection and delighting both collectors and gamers.
