The upcoming Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset has recently made headlines after appearing on Geekbench. This new sub-premium system-on-chip (SoC) is set to replace last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and promises some intriguing performance insights. Slated for devices such as the Poco F7, the Snapdragon 8s Elite details emerged early, months before its official launch.
According to the Geekbench listing, which seems to be connected to the iQOO Z10 Turbo, the Snapdragon 8s Elite features a core configuration that mirrors last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It includes a primary core clocked at 3.21 GHz, along with three cores at 3.01 GHz, two cores at 2.80 GHz, and two more at 2.20 GHz. This configuration suggests the use of a Cortex-X4 for the prime core, while the other groups are likely Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 cores.
Comparing the clock speeds, the Snapdragon 8s Elite might show slightly reduced CPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is evident from the Geekbench scores, where the Snapdragon 8s Elite attained a single-core score of 1,967 and a multi-core score of 5,827. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 boasts an average of 2,106 and 6,638 on similar tests.
The listing also confirms other specifications, including Android 15, 12 GB of RAM, and an Adreno 825 GPU. However, it’s worth noting that these scores and features pertain to the current version of the chipset, and further enhancements are likely before the final release.
Expected to debut around March or April, the Snapdragon 8s Elite is anticipated to gain traction among manufacturers such as OPPO and Xiaomi. With devices like the Poco F7 and the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro expected to incorporate this chipset, it’s bound to become a key player in the market.
