Servant of the Lake Officially Arrives August 13

Servant of the Lake Release Date Confirmed for iOS, Android, and PC

Rusty Lake has officially confirmed that Servant of the Lake will launch on August 13, 2026, for iOS, Android, and PC via Steam. The upcoming premium point-and-click adventure is a new standalone chapter in the studio’s eerie puzzle-driven universe, bringing players back to the mysterious Vanderboom estate for another unsettling story filled with secrets, rituals, and strange family history.

Originally planned for a spring 2026 release, Servant of the Lake was delayed after the project expanded significantly during development. According to Rusty Lake, both the story and puzzle design grew far beyond the original plan, nearly doubling in scope. That extra development time appears to have allowed the team to build a richer, more atmospheric experience for fans of the series.

This time, players will not enter the story as an investigator, prisoner, or outsider searching for answers. Instead, Servant of the Lake places you in the role of a newly hired servant arriving at the Vanderboom house during the time of Aldous and William Vanderboom. The game is set decades before the events of Rusty Lake: Roots, offering a fresh look at the family’s disturbing past.

The adventure begins with ordinary household duties. Players will prepare the estate for weekend guests, order supplies, care for the grounds, and complete tasks around the mansion. But in classic Rusty Lake fashion, the normal quickly becomes strange. What starts as simple housekeeping slowly turns into a series of bizarre assignments tied to the Vanderboom family’s alchemical experiments.

Gameplay will follow the familiar Rusty Lake formula, with inventory-based puzzles, room exploration, and unusual item combinations. Players will need to inspect every corner of the estate, solve cryptic challenges, and respond to increasingly odd requests from the mansion’s residents. Fans of the Cube Escape series, The Past Within, Underground Blossom, and Rusty Lake: Roots should feel right at home with its surreal atmosphere and puzzle logic.

Servant of the Lake also features an original soundtrack by longtime series composer Victor Butzelaar, whose music has become a key part of the franchise’s haunting identity. Sound design is handled by Driftwood Audio, continuing the team’s collaboration with Rusty Lake following previous projects.

Players who want an early taste of the game can already try Servant of the Lake Lite, a free teaser demo available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The mobile demo offers a 15-to-30-minute prologue that covers the servant’s carriage arrival and the first assignments at the Vanderboom estate. A separate demo is also available for PC players on Steam.

Pre-orders and wishlists are now open ahead of the August 13 release. The full mobile version of Servant of the Lake will be priced at $4.99, making it an accessible premium release for players who enjoy atmospheric puzzle games, dark storytelling, and surreal point-and-click adventures.

With its expanded scope, unsettling mansion setting, and deeper dive into the Vanderboom family timeline, Servant of the Lake is shaping up to be one of Rusty Lake’s most intriguing releases yet. Fans eager to uncover more of the series’ strange mythology will soon have another mystery waiting behind the doors of the estate.
