Seagate is widening its lineup of high-capacity storage with three new options designed for very different users: a refreshed Seagate One Touch external hard drive for everyday backups, the new FireCuda X Vault aimed at gamers who need lots of space next to their fast SSDs, and the LaCie 8big Pro5, a serious Thunderbolt 5 RAID system built for demanding creative workflows. All three products are available now through Seagate’s official store.
Seagate One Touch gets a major capacity jump and a cleaner look
The updated Seagate One Touch arrives with a refreshed, more rounded design compared to the older boxier model. The biggest upgrade, though, is storage capacity. While the previous One Touch topped out at 5TB, this new version scales all the way up to 24TB, making it a compelling option for anyone archiving large photo libraries, video files, or full-system backups.
It’s a 3.5-inch external drive that connects over USB-C and comes in 8TB, 20TB, and 24TB versions. Seagate also bundles useful extras, including Seagate Toolkit software for automated backups, plus Rescue Data Recovery Services for additional peace of mind.
FireCuda X Vault targets gamers who need massive storage without giving up SSD speed
For players juggling huge game installs and growing capture libraries, Seagate is introducing the FireCuda X Vault. This external drive is designed to act as mass storage alongside faster internal SSDs and NVMe drives—ideal if you want to keep your primary drive fast and your game library expansive.
Like the One Touch, it connects with a single USB-C cable, but it leans into gaming style with customizable RGB lighting. Seagate is offering the FireCuda X Vault in 8TB and 20TB capacities, and it also includes a free trial of Xbox Game Pass, adding extra value for console and PC gamers building their libraries.
LaCie 8big Pro5 brings Thunderbolt 5 RAID performance to creative pros
At the high end, Seagate’s LaCie brand is rolling out the 8big Pro5, an eight-bay Thunderbolt 5 RAID solution aimed squarely at creative professionals who need both massive capacity and high transfer speeds for projects like 4K/8K video editing, color workflows, VFX, and large audio sessions.
The LaCie 8big Pro5 supports up to 256TB total capacity, a substantial leap over smaller alternatives that max out around 60TB. Buyers can choose configurations including 32TB, 64TB, 128TB, 192TB, and 256TB. In RAID 0, it’s rated for speeds up to 2,800 MB/s, making it a strong fit for high-bitrate media and rapid scratch-disk style work.
Connectivity is also a standout. It can deliver up to 140W of laptop charging (while still requiring its own power source), and around back you’ll find three Thunderbolt ports plus a 20 Gbps USB-C port for added flexibility in a studio setup.
Price and availability
Seagate says all three new storage solutions are available now. Pricing starts at $260 for the Seagate One Touch 8TB, $270 for the FireCuda X Vault, and $3,999 for the LaCie 8big Pro5.
