Satan of Saturn, SNK’s 1981 Arcade Shooter, Is Coming to Modern Consoles
Hamster Corporation is bringing another vintage arcade classic back into the spotlight with the release of Satan of Saturn, the 1981 sci-fi shooting game from SNK. Known in western markets as Zarzon, the game is set to make its first official appearance on modern platforms, giving longtime arcade fans and retro game collectors a fresh way to experience one of SNK’s early space shooters.
Satan of Saturn will launch on August 27, with availability depending on local time zones. The game will be released through Arcade Archives 2 for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. It will also arrive through the standard Arcade Archives series for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Pricing is set at $7.99 for the Arcade Archives version and $9.99 for the Arcade Archives 2 edition. Players who already own the original Arcade Archives version will be able to upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version for $2.99.
Originally released in arcades in 1981, Satan of Saturn is a space-themed shooting game inspired by the golden age of fixed-screen arcade shooters. Players defend Earth from waves of incoming UFOs and rockets using missiles and laser beams. After clearing the Earth-based stages, the battle moves deeper into space as players head toward Saturn for a final showdown against the mysterious Satan of Saturn.
