Samsung Galaxy A08 4G Moves Closer to Launch With Familiar Chipset and Bigger Battery
Samsung appears to be preparing its next affordable smartphone, the Galaxy A08 4G. The device has surfaced on the Google Play Console, giving an early look at some of its key specifications before the official launch.
The Galaxy A08 is expected to succeed the Galaxy A07 4G, which arrived in August 2025 as a budget-friendly handset. That model offered a large 6.7-inch LCD display, a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, and a 5,000mAh battery, making it a practical option for users who wanted a big-screen Samsung phone at a low price.
According to the new listing, the Samsung Galaxy A08 carries the model number SM-A085F. The device is shown with a design that looks very similar to the Galaxy A07 4G, including a pill-shaped rear camera module. One noticeable change is the appearance of a white color option, which was not offered with the previous Galaxy A07 4G.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A08 4G is listed with the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. This is a 6nm octa-core processor designed for 4G smartphones and is commonly used in budget and lower mid-range devices. It should be capable of handling everyday tasks such as browsing, social media, messaging, video streaming, and light gaming.
The listing also points to around 8GB of RAM, which could help improve multitasking on the device. The display resolution is shown as 720 x 1,600 pixels, suggesting that Samsung may continue using an HD+ panel for this affordable Galaxy A-series model.
While the processor and screen resolution seem unchanged from the Galaxy A07 4G, the Galaxy A08 may bring an important upgrade in battery life. Earlier certification documents indicated a rated battery capacity of 5,830mAh. If accurate, Samsung could market the phone with a typical capacity of around 6,000mAh, giving the Galaxy A08 a clear advantage for users who want longer usage between charges.
A larger battery would make the Galaxy A08 especially appealing to buyers looking for a reliable daily phone for calls, entertainment, online classes, navigation, and social media without frequent charging. Combined with the power-efficient Helio G99 chip, the phone could deliver strong endurance for its price segment.
Samsung previously released both 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy A07, so there is a possibility that a Galaxy A08 5G model could also arrive later. However, no confirmed information about a 5G version has appeared yet.
For now, the Galaxy A08 4G looks like a modest but useful upgrade over its predecessor. It appears to keep the same core performance and display setup while potentially adding a much larger battery and a new color option. With its Google Play Console appearance, the official launch may not be far away.
