Samsung Galaxy A08 4G Spotted With Bigger Battery Ahead of Expected Launch
Samsung appears to be preparing its next budget-friendly Galaxy A-series phone, and early certification details suggest one major improvement could be on the way. The upcoming Galaxy A08 4G has surfaced in FCC filings, hinting that the device may launch soon as the successor to the Galaxy A07 4G.
The Galaxy A07 4G is approaching its first anniversary, making this the right time for Samsung to refresh its entry-level lineup. According to the certification documents, the Galaxy A08 4G will come in two versions: a single-SIM model with the number SM-A085M and a dual-SIM version listed as SM-A085M/DS.
The FCC listing also confirms support for dual-band Wi-Fi and multiple LTE bands, which should help the phone deliver reliable connectivity in supported markets. However, the most interesting detail is the battery capacity.
The Galaxy A07 4G came with a 5,000mAh battery, but the Galaxy A08 4G is listed with a 5,830mAh rated battery capacity. That strongly suggests Samsung may market the phone with a typical 6,000mAh battery. If accurate, this would be a welcome upgrade for users who want longer battery life without moving to a more expensive smartphone.
A 6,000mAh battery could make the Galaxy A08 4G especially appealing to students, casual users, travelers, and anyone who needs a dependable phone that can last through a full day or more. In the budget smartphone segment, battery life often matters more than premium design or high-end performance, and Samsung may be leaning into that advantage with this model.
Charging details are less clear. The charger used during testing supports up to 15W, but that does not necessarily mean the Galaxy A08 4G will be limited to 15W charging. The previous Galaxy A07 4G supports up to 25W charging, so there is still a chance Samsung may offer the same charging speed on the newer model. As with many recent Samsung phones, buyers should not expect a charger to be included in the box, meaning they may need to use their own compatible power adapter.
While the bigger battery looks like the headline upgrade, the processor may remain unchanged. A recent benchmark listing suggests the Galaxy A08 4G will use the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, the same processor found in the Galaxy A07 4G. That means performance could be similar, with the phone likely targeting everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging, video streaming, social media, and light gaming.
The benchmark listing also indicates that the Galaxy A08 4G will run Android 17 out of the box. If confirmed, this would give the device a software advantage at launch, especially for buyers looking for a low-cost Samsung phone with newer Android features.
Samsung is also expected to release a 5G version of the Galaxy A08 at some point, just as it did with the Galaxy A07 series. However, the 5G model will likely arrive later and may feature different hardware.
