It looks like Samsung is gearing up to make a significant splash in the US market, as hinted by President Trump during discussions on trade with South Korea. With the Trump administration actively working on trade deals with countries such as India, Japan, and South Korea, a crucial component appears to be foreign companies investing heavily in the US.
Since President Trump took office, several companies like Apple, TSMC, and SoftBank have revealed plans for multi-billion dollar facilities in the US. Now, it seems Samsung is next. According to reports, a deal with Samsung could be on the horizon.
President Trump mentioned that, due to tariffs, Samsung is planning to build substantial facilities in the United States. Without these tariffs, such moves might not have been considered. It seems the administration is offering incentives to companies that announce impressive investments in the US, and Samsung is poised to join this initiative.
Samsung already has expansion plans in cities like Austin, creating approximately 10,000 jobs. Their project in Taylor, Texas, is expected to be up and running by the end of 2027, focusing on advanced technologies like the 2nm nodes, which have garnered interest from tech giants such as NVIDIA.
Additionally, Samsung aims to relocate production of its appliances and TVs, as highlighted in their recent earnings report. A potential tariff agreement is likely to address this aspect. An announcement regarding these developments might be on the horizon, potentially aligning with the finalization of trade policies between the US and South Korea. This could happen as early as next week.
