Samsung Unveils Galaxy A55 with Impressive Display, High RAM, and Advanced GPU

Samsung has expanded its mid-range lineup with the introduction of the Galaxy A55, offering significant upgrades over its predecessors and setting a new standard for mid-range devices. The Galaxy A55 is now available for purchase directly from Samsung’s official website, with prices starting at €479 (approximately $524).

One of the standout features of the Galaxy A55 is its large 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. This display technology also includes the company’s Vision Booster feature, enhancing visibility under various lighting conditions.

In a first for Samsung’s A-series, the Galaxy A55 comes with an impressive 12 GB of RAM, equating its memory capacity to that of the higher-end Galaxy S series. The smartphone offers two storage options – 128 GB and 256 GB – but it should be noted that the variant with 12 GB of RAM will only be available in selected markets initially.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Exynos 1480 SoC, consisting of an eight-core CPU with performance cores clocked at 2.75 GHz and efficiency cores at 2.05 GHz. The highlight of this chipset is undoubtedly the RDNA 3-based Xclipse 530 GPU, promising enhanced graphics performance that could rival mid-range SoCs from competitors like Qualcomm and MediaTek.

Although the Galaxy A55 does not boast significant improvements in its camera setup, it features a versatile array of lenses including a 50 MP wide-angle, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 5 MP macro lens. The primary camera includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and supports 12-bit HDR video recording. For selfie enthusiasts and video calling, there’s also a 32 MP front-facing camera.

Battery life should be solid with the inclusion of a 5,000 mAh battery, accompanied by 25 W fast charging capabilities. The Galaxy A55 comes with Android 14 pre-installed, enhanced by Samsung’s own One UI 6.1, providing a user-friendly and customizable interface.

The Galaxy A55, with its large high-refresh-rate screen, copious amount of RAM, and powerful GPU, is set to appeal to users seeking a device that balances performance and price in the ever-competitive mid-range market.
