Samsung is pushing gaming monitor speed to a new extreme with the Odyssey G6 (G60H), a display designed with competitive e-sports and high-FPS enthusiasts in mind. The standout feature is its ultra-high refresh rate: it can hit an incredible 1,040Hz when the resolution is lowered to 1280 x 720. For gamers who prefer sharper visuals without giving up that “instant” feel, the monitor still delivers a very fast 600Hz refresh rate at its full 2560 x 1440 resolution.
To keep gameplay smooth even as frame rates rise and fall, the Odyssey G6 also supports variable refresh rate technologies, including AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync. These features help reduce screen tearing and stuttering by syncing the monitor’s refresh rate to the game’s real-time frame output, which is especially valuable in fast-paced competitive titles where clarity and responsiveness can make the difference.
Samsung’s next wave of OLED gaming monitors, including models like the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH), is expected to get official launch details at CES 2026 in January. Pricing hasn’t been fully confirmed yet, but early expectations suggest the Odyssey OLED G8 could land in the same range as the previous G80-series model, which debuted around the $899 mark.
