Samsung Partners with British Gas to Boost Home Energy Efficiency with SmartThings Energy

Samsung has embarked on a strategic partnership with British Gas to enhance energy efficiency in British homes. Through this collaboration, Samsung aims to integrate its SmartThings Energy platform with the British Gas PeakSave incentive program. The new synergy is designed to provide British residents with seamless control over their energy consumption, ultimately contributing to a more energy-conscious lifestyle.

Chanwoo Park, of Samsung Electronics’ executive echelon, emphasized the value of this integration: “Together we are now able to harness SmartThings Energy to provide customers with easier control into optimizing their daily routines and energy use.” As the UK’s leading energy and home services supplier since 1812 and the world’s inaugural utility company, British Gas has a long history of serving over 10 million homes with a commitment to leading the nation towards a net-zero future by 2050. This commitment includes aiding customers in lessening their environmental impact through various energy-saving strategies, including the adoption of technologies like Samsung SmartThings Energy.

SmartThings Energy Auto DR Service Widens its Reach

British Gas is focused on encouraging its customers to reduce their carbon footprint and has fortified this ambition by employing Samsung’s SmartThings Energy. In particular, the integration will incorporate the SmartThings Energy Auto Demand Response (Auto DR) functionality with the British Gas PeakSave program, effective immediately.

PeakSave offers incentives to consumers who cut back on electricity during times of peak demand. By leveraging SmartThings Energy Auto DR, appliances can intelligently modify their operating settings during these high-usage periods, enabling users to benefit financially by consuming less energy during designated times.

The SmartThings Energy Auto DR service further simplifies energy reduction; it can activate AI Energy Mode on appliances automatically to enhance energy savings and includes an auto power-off option to shut down devices when they’re not in use. Moreover, users can achieve additional savings by intelligently adjusting temperatures through enhanced compatibility with both EHS products and compatible third-party thermostats.
