With the advent of CES 2024 in the USA, Samsung made a splash by announcing its latest TV lineup that boasts Micro LED, Mini LED, OLED, and QLED TVs with updated Tizen software and SmartThings technology. Building on this momentum, Samsung is now extending these technological advancements to its commercial display segment, catering to digital classrooms, retail outlets, public advertising spaces, and more.
Samsung’s 2024 Commercial Displays Operate on Tizen OS 7.0 and Offer SmartThings Integration
Revealed at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2024 event in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung’s new commercial displays have taken center stage. The sprawling Samsung exhibition space, measuring 1,728 square meters, showcases a variety of products including SmartThings-enabled displays, the Electronic Whiteboard for educational and corporate environments, a 105-inch Smart Signage screen ideal for meeting rooms, and a cutting-edge transparent Micro LED display initially previewed at CES 2024.
Each of these displays runs on Tizen 7.0 OS and supports SmartThings, providing seamless connectivity with HCA (Home Connectivity Alliance) and Matter platforms, allowing for easy management of smart devices. Samsung’s foray into the B2B market with SmartThings illustrates its commitment to a hyper-connectivity-based platform for straightforward control over multiple displays, devices, solutions, and services. The displays are also designed for hotel usage.
These commercial displays enable automation to enhance customer experience in smart stores, where changes in lighting and menu boards can be automated based on time or other factors. Security can be monitored through connected CCTV cameras, and meeting room conditions can be adjusted automatically. SmartThings AI Energy Saving mode helps in reducing power consumption by turning off screens and devices when not in use.
Furthermore, Samsung’s introduction of the SmartThings Enterprise API allows integration of these displays with a company’s internal data systems, enabling custom dashboards for employee access.
Samsung’s Digital Whiteboard Screens Cater to Classrooms and Meetings with Android 13
At ISE 2024, Samsung also showcased various sizes of its Electronic Whiteboard (WAD) displays, which come in 65-inch, 75-inch, and 86-inch models. With Google’s EDLA certification, these whiteboards run on Android 13, offering classroom-friendly access to Google Classroom, Google Drive, and other educational apps from the Play Store.
At the entrance of the exhibition, attendees are greeted by a massive 420-inch version of The Wall TV, displaying 3D stereoscopic content for an immersive experience. The expo also features Samsung’s 105-inch Smart Signage display (QPD-5K), which has an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and a high-resolution camera, it supports various configurations and is compatible with Cisco and Microsoft Teams.
In line with these developments, Samsung Visual Display President Yong Seok-woo emphasized the importance of customer experience through hyper-connectivity and AI in the commercial display market, pledging to elevate the level of experiences offered.
With this expansion, Samsung solidifies its position at the forefront of integrating smart home connectivity into commercial displays, aiming to transform both the consumer and enterprise display landscapes.
