Samsung Galaxy Watch Owners Complain of Sudden Battery Drain After Latest Updates

Samsung Galaxy Watch updates are usually a win for users, bringing new features, smoother performance, and important bug fixes. But a growing number of owners say the latest Galaxy Watch software updates may be causing the opposite effect, with noticeably worse battery life and a few frustrating performance glitches.

Across user reports shared in the r/GalaxyWatch community, people with different Galaxy Watch models are describing severe battery drain after installing recent updates. Because the complaints mention multiple generations, it doesn’t appear to be limited to a single device or one specific model year.

One Galaxy Watch 7 owner said their battery started dropping much faster after last month’s update. A restart improved things for a short time, but the drain returned about a week later. Another user with a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro reported an even bigger shift: before updating, they could comfortably get more than a full day on a charge. After updating, they claim the watch now struggles to last just four to five hours.

There are also reports suggesting the battery issue may affect households or users with more than one watch. One person who owns the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 7 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) said all of their devices are experiencing the same abnormal battery drain. In their case, the Watch Ultra previously delivered around four days of battery life (with Always On Display turned off), but now it reportedly has trouble reaching two days under similar settings.

Battery life isn’t the only concern being raised. Some users say the update may have introduced performance and responsiveness problems as well. A Galaxy Watch 6 owner mentioned that notifications can take several seconds to appear after they raise their wrist. Others reported odd call behavior, such as the watch continuing to ring or momentarily glitching even after the call has already been answered.

For now, Samsung hasn’t publicly confirmed the issue or announced a timeline for a fix. Restarting the watch is one of the few workarounds that some users say helps temporarily, but it doesn’t seem to work consistently for everyone, and the battery drain may return after several days.

If your Galaxy Watch battery life dropped after an update, you’re not alone—and it may be worth trying a restart as a short-term step while waiting to see whether a future software patch addresses the problem.
