Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold8 prices may rise soon as memory costs surge
Samsung could be preparing to raise prices across several of its upcoming and current premium Galaxy smartphones, with increases reportedly set to arrive as early as the beginning of June. The move is believed to be linked to the ongoing DRAM shortage, which has pushed up the cost of memory components used in smartphones, laptops, SSDs, and other consumer electronics.
According to recent industry information, the price hikes may affect several high-end Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S26 series and next-generation foldables. Depending on the model and storage configuration, prices could increase by around €100 to €200. Devices with more RAM and internal storage are expected to see the steepest jumps, since memory is one of the main components becoming more expensive.
The smartphones reportedly affected include:
Samsung Galaxy S26
Samsung Galaxy S26+
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
Samsung Galaxy S25 FE
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8
The price adjustment is expected to begin in Greece first, though similar changes could appear in other European markets and possibly additional regions. Samsung has not officially confirmed the increases, but rising memory prices are already putting pressure on many electronics manufacturers.
The situation is especially notable because Samsung is one of the world’s largest producers of DRAM and flash memory. However, Samsung’s mobile division and semiconductor division operate separately, which means the smartphone business still faces the same rising component costs as other manufacturers. As a result, higher memory prices can directly affect the final retail price of Galaxy phones.
For now, the reported increase appears focused mainly on Samsung’s flagship and premium smartphones rather than budget models. This may be because newer Galaxy A-series devices have already launched at higher prices in some markets. For example, mid-range models with modest storage options are now reaching price points that were previously more common among upper mid-range phones.
If the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 become more expensive, buyers may need to act sooner rather than later if they are planning an upgrade. A €100 to €200 increase could make a noticeable difference, especially for customers choosing higher-storage versions of Samsung’s flagship devices.
The timing could also affect Samsung’s competition with Apple. If Apple manages to keep iPhone pricing stable while Samsung raises Galaxy prices, upcoming iPhone models may look more attractive to some premium smartphone buyers. On the other hand, Samsung’s foldable phones and Ultra models still offer features that appeal strongly to Android users, including advanced cameras, large displays, S Pen support on Ultra models, and cutting-edge foldable designs.
The broader DRAM crisis is likely to remain a concern throughout the tech industry. As demand for memory rises due to artificial intelligence hardware, data centers, smartphones, gaming devices, and laptops, component prices may continue to fluctuate. Consumers could see higher prices not only for smartphones, but also for laptops, tablets, SSDs, and other electronics in the coming months.
For Samsung fans, the key takeaway is simple: premium Galaxy phones may soon become more expensive. Anyone considering a Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, or Galaxy Z Flip8 may want to watch pricing closely before the expected June adjustment arrives.
