The Samsung Galaxy S23 series has been updated with the February 2024 security patch in the United States. This timely security update rolls out as users of the recently launched Galaxy S24 await their own first update. The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are all in line to receive enhancements that will improve their security posture.
Carrier-Locked and Unlocked Galaxy S23 Devices Updated in the US
The new security update is now available for both carrier-locked and factory-unlocked models of the Galaxy S23 series in the US. Carriers such as Comcast and Xfinity Mobile have started rolling out the update with the firmware version S91xUSQS2BXAD. Unlocked versions, on the other hand, are receiving an update with the firmware version S91xU1UES2BXAD. The update itself is approximately 400MB in size and includes the February 2024 security patch, which addresses 72 security vulnerabilities that were present in earlier versions of the software.
Owners of the Galaxy S23 series residing in the US can search for the new update on their devices through the path: Settings → Software update → Download and install. Alternatively, users can manually download the firmware from a reputable firmware database and apply the update themselves.
When the Galaxy S23 series was introduced early the previous year, it was equipped with Android 13. The smartphones have since been upgraded to One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 roughly three months ago. Looking ahead, these devices are slated to receive additional features inspired by the Galaxy S24’s AI capabilities within the One UI 6.1 update, expected in the forthcoming months.
