AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT is making headlines as a top contender in the GPU market, giving tough competition to NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti. Initially, it lagged slightly behind the RTX 5070 Ti, but a recent driver update has turned the tables. Now, the RX 9070 XT outpaces its pricier competitor in gaming performance.
The latest Adrenalin driver update, version 25.6.3, has provided a significant boost. According to tests conducted by Hardware Unboxed, the RX 9070 XT now outperforms the RTX 5070 Ti by 3% on average across 16 games at 1440p resolution. Compared to earlier drivers, the RX 9070 XT has seen a 9% increase in performance at 1440p and a 4% bump at 4K.
While the RTX 5070 Ti has also seen improvements, with a 2.5% boost at 1440p and 3% at 4K, AMD’s offering still holds the edge. Some games have experienced dramatic gains since the update, with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Counter-Strike 2, and Hogwarts Legacy showing jumps of 27%, 23%, and 14% respectively at 1440p. Numerous other titles saw performance boosts between 10% and 15%.
The RX 9070 XT, despite being around $200 less expensive, now leads its rival. This price gap offers a compelling reason for gamers to consider AMD’s flagship GPU. Although both cards are currently priced above their MSRPs, the RX 9070 XT is gradually returning to its launch price of $600 as demand wanes, presenting a golden opportunity for those who waited.
With these developments, AMD continues to deliver exceptional value and performance in the GPU landscape, making it a noteworthy choice for gaming enthusiasts.
