Popular AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards are slipping down Amazon’s best-seller charts, and a sharp rise in GPU prices appears to be the main reason.
Not long ago, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT was the card to beat. After launching in March last year as AMD’s RDNA 4 flagship, it shot to the number one spot among best-selling graphics cards on Amazon US in less than a day. Multiple RX 9070 XT variants quickly filled out top positions, and for months it became a familiar tug-of-war between AMD’s RX 9070 XT and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 lineup—especially the RTX 5070 Ti—trading places near the top.
That era is fading fast. With GPU costs climbing quickly, both of those once-dominant upper mid-range options are no longer holding onto top placements. On Amazon US, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has been seen as high as 11th place, while the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti has dropped much further, appearing around 19th. The trend isn’t identical everywhere, but across many Amazon regions, these two cards are no longer consistently sitting in the top 10 the way they used to.
Instead, buyers are gravitating toward more affordable mid-range GPUs from NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series and AMD’s RX 9000 family. These models are now taking the prime best-seller spots because higher-priced options have become harder for many shoppers to justify. On Amazon US, the GeForce RTX 5070 has moved into the number one position—and notably, it’s still selling at MSRP, which likely helps explain its popularity. Other cards frequently appearing in the top 10 include the RTX 5060, RTX 5080, Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, and the RTX 5060 Ti.
Regional performance varies. In Canada, the RX 9070 XT can still be found in the top 10, but not all of its models are performing well—its next closest placement reportedly falls to 23rd, showing a steep drop-off beyond the best-positioned listing. In the UK, the RX 9070 XT seems to be holding up better than in the US, though it’s still far from the number one spot. The RTX 5070 Ti also appears to be doing comparatively better in some non-US regions.
Price and availability are the two big pressure points. The RX 9070 XT is reportedly selling for about $100 more than it was just last month, pushing cost-conscious shoppers toward less expensive alternatives such as the RTX 5070 or slower cards like the RX 9060 XT 16GB. Availability is also becoming a problem, particularly for the RTX 5070 Ti on Amazon US, where it’s increasingly difficult to find in stock. Talk of NVIDIA potentially discontinuing the RTX 5070 Ti (even briefly) may have added to uncertainty and supply issues, further discouraging buyers.
For anyone tracking the GPU market, Amazon’s rankings are a clear signal: as graphics card prices rise and stock gets tighter, buyers are shifting away from once-popular upper mid-range “sweet spot” models and choosing options that better fit today’s budgets—even if that means stepping down a tier.
