Project Starline is now rebranded as Google Beam and back with more advancement

Revolutionary 3D Video Calls: Google’s AI-Driven Platform Transforms Enterprise Connectivity

During the I/O 2025, Google dazzled with numerous announcements, yet the spotlight remained on their ambitious strides in AI. Among these revelations, the rebranding of Project Starline to Beam stood out, marking a leap forward in video call technology. Beam is now enhanced with advanced AI, aiming to deliver a more natural and immersive experience.

Google’s commitment to leveraging AI for seamless and efficient technology was evident. Originally known as Project Starline, this innovation introduced the magic window concept, allowing users to engage in lifelike 3D conversations. Now, with Beam, Google is enhancing efficiency and practicality.

Sundar Pichai revealed that Beam will be available to select enterprise customers later this year, though pricing details remain under wraps. Given its state-of-the-art AI technology and hardware, Beam is expected to be a premium offering. Its realism could make users feel as if they are sharing the same space with the person on the other end of the call.

Beam showcases the potential of telepresence, utilizing real-time AI to minimize latency and facilitate smoother, more natural conversations. It features a six-camera array designed to capture varying angles, enabling 3D video rather than the traditional flat images.

Retaining the magic window’s essence, Beam employs a light field display to simulate natural eye contact and offer depth perception by reflecting different light angles. Complex processing tasks will be managed through Google Cloud, powered by a custom Chrome OS device.

To make this groundbreaking technology accessible, Google has partnered with industry leaders like HP and Zoom, integrating Beam into their platforms. Major companies such as Deloitte are already showing interest, suggesting that Beam could soon become a staple in enterprise environments. While Google revealed many AI-driven advancements, Beam undeniably captured our attention.
