Apple unveiled iOS 18 last week, and after a much-anticipated wait, users can finally revamp their Home Screens with a plethora of coloring options and tools, allowing for customized app placement. However, one pivotal feature of iOS 18 remains conspicuously absent, underscoring the fact that the core elements distinguishing this upgrade from iOS 17 are still missing.
Excitingly, it’s now rumored that Apple will roll out its revolutionary Apple Intelligence earlier than initially expected, which includes a game-changing update to Siri.
Apple is believed to be planning an accelerated release of the new Siri experience bundled with Apple Intelligence, set to arrive as part of the iOS 18.3 update. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple’s overhauled Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence, will start making its debut sooner than anticipated. However, rather than launching all features at once, the company is poised to stagger their release across multiple updates.
Gurman’s sources suggest that certain new Siri capabilities will be introduced as early as iOS 18.3, diverging from the original plan of a comprehensive feature release with iOS 18.4.
Historically, Apple rolls out its X.3 updates in the first quarter. Gurman indicates that iOS 18.1 is expected to be finalized internally by this week, hinting at a mid-October public release. iOS 18.2 is projected to reach finalization by early November, targeting a December release. Meanwhile, iOS 18.3 should be ready by year’s end, with a planned release in January. The major update, iOS 18.4, is anticipated to roll out in March following internal testing in February.
iOS 18.1 is set to mark Apple’s significant entrance into the AI arena, boasting features like new writing tools and textual summarization. iOS 18.2 will build upon these innovations, introducing additional enhancements such as the Image Playground tool, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration. Notably, Siri’s integration with ChatGPT is slated for early next year, a feature eagerly welcomed by users.
Currently, Apple is putting its iOS 18.1 update through rigorous testing, with developers already having access to these groundbreaking AI features. If you’re a developer, this is your chance to explore the new enhancements before the public release. Stay tuned for updates on when these features will be available to everyone.
