Retroid has responded to issues reported with the hinges on their Retroid Pocket Flip 2, a handheld gaming console with a clamshell design. The company is offering free replacements for affected units, and users can also opt to switch to the Retroid Pocket 5.
Launched in March 2025, the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 quickly gained attention for its performance, battery life, and vibrant display. It comes in two variants: one with a Snapdragon 865 and another with a Dimensity 1100, which started shipping in July.
Despite the positive reception, some users have encountered problems with the console’s hinges. In response, Retroid is allowing those experiencing hairline cracks to get a free replacement. Affected customers need to contact their customer service, and they will receive a prepaid shipping label to return the damaged unit. Once it’s in transit, Retroid will dispatch a new device.
