Reliance Joins Forces with Nvidia to Develop India’s AI Ecosystem

Reliance and Nvidia have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking AI initiative in India, a move set to revolutionize the country’s technological landscape. This partnership promises to deliver state-of-the-art AI infrastructure using Nvidia’s cutting-edge Grace Hopper Superchip and DGX Cloud technologies.

The collaboration was first introduced in September 2023 and has already created a buzz among tech enthusiasts and industry leaders. The announcement was made at Nvidia’s AI Summit in Mumbai, where Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, highlighted the opportunity this presents for India, particularly given the country’s vast pool of talented computer engineers. Together, Nvidia and Reliance plan to develop a scalable AI infrastructure powered by 1 gigawatt of environmentally friendly energy, marking a significant step forward for sustainable tech in India.

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, emphasized the importance of AI technology, stating that India is well-positioned with the necessary components — data, technology, and soon, a robust AI infrastructure. This partnership not only aims to establish a physical foundation for AI in India but also focuses on developing AI supercomputers to support large-scale language models in regional languages, which could dramatically enhance digital accessibility and innovation across the nation.

In addition to its alliance with Reliance, Nvidia has been fostering collaborations with Indian IT giants, including Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, and Wipro. These partnerships underline Nvidia’s commitment to advancing AI capabilities in India, positioning the country as a potential leader in the global AI landscape.

This initiative is not just a technological advancement but a strategic move that could position India as a key player in the AI sector, bringing about a new era of digital transformation and innovation.
