Redmi Note 15 Gets a Fresh Upgrade: Bigger Battery, Longer Power

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition in India, giving buyers a refreshed take on the popular mid-range phone with a notable camera and battery upgrade. The new model appears to borrow key hardware from the China-only Redmi Note 15, while keeping the familiar display and processor that made the original appealing for everyday use.

On the camera side, Xiaomi has carried over a 50 MP main rear camera that’s believed to use a 1/2.88-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. This setup is likely the Light Hunter 400 sensor found in several mid-range smartphones, aiming to deliver sharper photos and improved light capture compared to typical budget sensors. The rear camera system remains simple overall, though, as the primary sensor is paired with just one auxiliary lens. Around the front, Xiaomi sticks with the same 20 MP selfie camera seen on the standard Redmi Note 15 5G.

Battery life is another standout change. The Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition comes with a 5,800 mAh battery—the same capacity used on the Redmi Note 15 5G sold in China—making it a strong option for users who prioritize all-day endurance for streaming, gaming, and heavy social use.

Design-wise, the Special Edition introduces a distinctive new color option called “Crimson Reserve,” joining the existing color lineup to give the phone a more premium, eye-catching feel. Core performance and viewing experience remain consistent, with Xiaomi retaining the 6.77-inch AMOLED display and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, a combination geared toward smooth scrolling, vibrant visuals, and reliable 5G performance in this price segment.

Pricing for the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition in India starts at INR 19,999 (around $215) for the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant, available in Carbon Black, Crimson Reserve, and Frosted White. Buyers can also choose 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage for INR 21,999 (around $235), or step up to 8 GB RAM with 256 GB storage for INR 23,999 (around $255).

Pre-orders open in India on April 7. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition will be released in other markets.
