RedMagic Unveils a Gaming Tablet Built to Challenge Lenovo’s Legion Tab Gen 5

RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro Set to Challenge Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 185Hz OLED Display

RedMagic is preparing to enter the high-performance gaming tablet race with its upcoming Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, a powerful new device aimed directly at compact gaming slates like the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5. The tablet is scheduled to launch in China on June 30, 2026, with an international release expected to follow later, possibly under a different product name.

The biggest attraction is its processor. RedMagic has confirmed that the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a flagship chipset designed for demanding mobile gaming, multitasking, and sustained high-performance workloads. Like RedMagic’s previous gaming-focused tablet, the new model will also feature an active cooling fan to help keep temperatures under control during long play sessions.

Cooling appears to be one of the tablet’s strongest selling points. RedMagic says the device will use a self-developed piezoelectric micropump water-cooling system, combined with fluorinated fluid similar to what is used in AI server cooling systems. This advanced setup will work alongside a large vapor chamber to help maintain stable performance when the processor is under heavy load.

For gamers, that could mean fewer frame drops, better thermal efficiency, and more consistent gameplay during demanding titles. RedMagic has built much of its reputation around gaming phones with aggressive cooling designs, and the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro seems to follow that same performance-first philosophy.

The display is another major upgrade. RedMagic has confirmed that the tablet will feature a 9.06-inch OLED panel with an ultra-fast 185Hz refresh rate. That gives it a clear advantage on paper over the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5, which uses a 165Hz LCD screen. A higher refresh rate can make supported games feel smoother and more responsive, especially in fast-paced competitive titles.

The OLED screen will use a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it suitable for both gaming and media consumption. It is also rated for up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and supports HDR10, which should improve contrast, color depth, and overall visual quality when watching compatible content or playing supported games.

RedMagic is also adding a dedicated Synaptics S3930 touch chip to help improve touch response. For mobile gamers, fast and accurate touch input can be just as important as raw graphics performance, particularly in shooters, racing games, MOBAs, and rhythm-based titles.

While RedMagic has not yet confirmed every specification, early expectations point to an 8,300mAh battery, up to 1TB of internal storage, and configurations with as much as 24GB of RAM. If accurate, those specs would place the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro among the most powerful Android gaming tablets on the market.

With a flagship Snapdragon chipset, active fan cooling, liquid-assisted thermal technology, a 185Hz OLED display, and high-end memory options, the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is shaping up to be a serious option for mobile gamers who want desktop-like performance in a portable tablet form.

More details, including pricing, global availability, and final configuration options, are expected to be revealed when the tablet officially launches in China on June 30, 2026.
