Exciting news for gaming enthusiasts: Game Source Entertainment has announced that they will be the publisher for the much-anticipated game RATATAN, created by TVT and Ratata Arts. Set to launch in 2025, RATATAN will be available across a variety of platforms including PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
This game serves as a spiritual successor to the beloved Patapon series and successfully secured its funding through a Kickstarter campaign last summer. It is currently under active development and promises to bring a unique combination of music and action to players worldwide.
RATATAN brilliantly blends rhythm-based gameplay with side-scrolling action, offering an engaging online co-op experience for up to four players. The core mechanics allow players to deliver commands to their Cobun troops using dynamic and spirited music. Think of it as embarking on an epic adventure where rhythm is the lifeblood of battle—a thrilling twist that mixes musicality with strategic warfare.
Designed by Hiroyuki Kotani, the mind behind the original Patapon series, and developed by Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT), RATATAN invites players to step into the shoes of the Ratatan. Using magical instruments, players issue commands to their army, directing them to conquer foes in rhythm-fueled skirmishes.
The game isn’t just about combat; it offers players the ability to freely move characters, each equipped with unique skills that enhance the game’s musical theme. As players successfully follow rhythm sequences, they enter “fever mode,” a heightened state where the soundtrack dynamically changes and characters unleash a flurry of special actions.
Adding to its allure, RATATAN incorporates a Roguelike system, ensuring that each campaign is a new adventure. As Ratatan and the Cobun progress through the game, they receive varied power-ups and rewards, resulting in a fresh and unpredictable gameplay experience every time you dive in.
With contributions from Nelnal, the game’s illustrator and character designer, RATATAN features vibrant graphics and a host of new characters. It doesn’t stop there; the game has enriched its offering with fresh content, including novel systems and multiplayer mini-games. Underpinned by TVT’s proprietary “Theory Engine,” the game promises a seamless and fast-paced online multiplayer environment.
RATATAN is poised to capture the hearts of both rhythm game fans and action enthusiasts alike. Keep an eye out for this game, as its combination of tactical gameplay and rhythmic flair is set to deliver an unforgettable gaming experience come 2025.
