rabbitOS 2 is here, and it’s the biggest upgrade yet for the Rabbit R1. The AI companion that debuted in early 2024 now gets a colorful, card-based interface, fluid gesture controls, and a no‑code way to build mini apps with your voice, making the device feel faster, friendlier, and far more capable.
The new gesture system puts everyday controls a swipe away. Swipe down from the top of the screen to adjust brightness and volume or jump into quick settings for the camera, text input, and device preferences. Along the bottom, handy icons let you mute a conversation, type a follow‑up question, or launch the camera instantly.
A redesigned Card Stack UI organizes everything into bold, tappable cards. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or roll the scroll wheel upward to open your stack, then tap any card to launch its app. You’ll also see this view when you press the push‑to‑talk button to kick off tasks like setting a timer, and you can close an app with a simple left swipe.
Several built‑in apps get meaningful upgrades:
– Magic Gallery now gathers your Magic Camera shots in one place, and you can export them via Rabbit Hole.
– Translator shows full transcripts of your sessions so you can review everything later.
– Voice recordings are saved locally and can be played back on the device.
– The Intern card brings Rabbit’s web‑based intern tasks directly onto the R1, letting you work with the agent without leaving the device.
Perhaps the most intriguing addition is Creations, a new way to build apps using natural language prompts. Describe what you want, and rabbitOS 2 assembles it into a usable “creation” that appears at the bottom of your Card Stack. You can share your creations with a QR code, and you can also install apps made by other users from Rabbit’s website. This is the first release of Creations, with more features planned as the platform evolves.
rabbitOS 2 is available to download now for all Rabbit R1 units. Rabbit is also offering free global shipping on the R1 through the end of September. If you’ve been waiting for a more polished interface, faster access to controls, and the ability to spin up simple apps with your voice, this update makes the R1 feel fresh and genuinely more useful.
