Qualcomm is making a clear push to grow Snapdragon X in the global PC market, and it’s backing that ambition with a high-profile hire. The company has brought on AMD veteran Jason Banta as its new vice president of global compute sales, a move designed to strengthen Snapdragon X’s position with PC makers and retail channels worldwide.
Banta previously served as a corporate vice president at AMD, giving him deep experience in the competitive world of PC processors and partner-driven sales. In his new role at Qualcomm, he will lead the channel sales strategy across both consumer and commercial segments—an important area as Snapdragon-powered laptops and enterprise devices become a bigger focus for manufacturers and buyers alike.
A major part of the job will be expanding Qualcomm’s relationships with OEM partners. That matters because the success of any PC processor platform depends heavily on how widely it’s adopted by laptop brands, how many models reach store shelves, and how effectively those devices are positioned for everyday users and businesses. With Snapdragon X, Qualcomm is aiming to increase availability, build momentum with more PC designs, and accelerate adoption across different price ranges and use cases.
This leadership addition signals Qualcomm’s intent to compete more aggressively in the Windows PC ecosystem by scaling partnerships and improving go-to-market execution. As the Snapdragon X series continues to roll out in more laptop lines, Qualcomm’s strengthened sales strategy could play a key role in how quickly Snapdragon-powered PCs become mainstream options for both consumers and enterprise customers.
