Q2 2025: The Evolution of China’s Smartphone Industry

In the second quarter of 2025, Chinese smartphone brands saw their shipments hit 175 million units, with expectations for continued growth throughout the year. Despite promotions like the 618 shopping festival and support from China’s National Development and Reform Commission, overseas demand remained muted, slightly boosting shipments by 2.2% from the previous quarter and 4.8% year-over-year.

Major players such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Transsion experienced a lower collective growth rate compared to their competitors Vivo, Honor, Lenovo, and Huawei. As a result, their combined market share slipped to 57.1% from 58.9% the previous quarter. This shift highlights the evolving dynamics and competitive landscape of the Chinese smartphone market as brands vie for a larger slice of the pie.
