Amazon is gearing up to unveil an exciting addition to its Kindle lineup: a more affordable e-reader featuring a vibrant color display. Dubbed the Kindle Petit Color, this new model has surfaced in intriguing leaked photos, setting the stage for a release aimed at budget-conscious readers.
Spotted in photos shared by a Reddit user, the device is currently labeled as a prototype for the Latin American market. While the Kindle Petit Color is the tentative name, the final branding remains under wraps. Comparing its design to the Kindle Colorsoft, which retails for around $250, this new model sports a slightly thicker bezel, hinting at a lower price point.
Although the prototype lacks a backlight, expectations are that this feature will be included in the final product. The Petit Color promises a display with more saturated hues than its predecessor, with adjustable color intensity via software. Amazon is reportedly enhancing the software, allowing for customizations such as changing the colors of icons and updating text colors in e-books to indicate reading progress.
The Kindle Petit Color is anticipated to hit the market in fall 2025. However, as with all leaks, these details should be taken with a pinch of caution since the authenticity can’t be independently verified.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development as Amazon continues to innovate in the e-reader space.
