Porsche Unleashes Its Most Powerful Car Yet, Now With Tesla Cybercab–Style Wireless Charging

Porsche’s first electric Cayenne arrives with a headline feature that makes daily charging nearly effortless: factory wireless charging. Instead of plugging in, owners can simply park over a ground pad and let the SUV lower itself automatically to begin charging. The Porsche Wireless Charging system is a $6,000 option and uses a protected inductive plate integrated between the front wheels, paired with a weather-resistant pad that plugs directly into household power. It’s a one-box solution—no separate wall box or external controller required—designed for easy installation in garages, driveways, or private parking spaces.

Porsche says the system delivers up to 11 kW wirelessly with about 90% transfer efficiency. Built-in object and animal detection can pause charging if a metal item or small pet is detected on the pad, adding a layer of safety to the convenience.

The 2026 Cayenne EV doubles down on performance, too. In Turbo form it delivers up to 1,139 horsepower, launching from 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds and reaching a top speed limited to 162 mph. A 113 kWh battery targets up to 315 miles of range, and DC fast charging peaks at 400 kW. On compatible high-power chargers, including Tesla’s V4 Superchargers, Porsche claims a 10% to 80% top-up in about 16 minutes.

Chassis technology is equally forward-thinking. Air suspension can automatically lower the SUV to align with the charging pad. Rear-wheel steering adds up to 5 degrees of angle for sharper dynamics and easier parking, while Porsche Active Ride is offered on a Cayenne for the first time, aiming for a blend of athletic handling and plush comfort.

Inside, the Cayenne EV layers in luxury and tech. Expect comprehensive heating, extending from the seats to the door panels, plus a panoramic glass roof with adjustable transparency. A curved OLED center display is joined by a 14-inch OLED instrument cluster, and buyers can add a 15-inch passenger screen. An augmented reality display projects a virtual 87-inch image about 30 feet ahead, enhancing navigation and driver information.

Pricing in the United States starts at $111,000, with the Turbo trim from $165,000. The optional wireless charging system will be available at launch when the Cayenne EV arrives this summer, underscoring Porsche’s push to make high-performance electric driving as convenient as it is thrilling.
