Philips Unveils 36M4C5500P: A 36-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor With 260Hz Refresh Rate
Philips has introduced the 36M4C5500P, a new Evnia 5000 series gaming monitor that stands out for one major reason: its size. While 34-inch ultrawide displays have become common in the gaming monitor market, Philips is pushing slightly further with a true 36-inch curved screen aimed at players who want a larger, more immersive experience without jumping to massive 40-inch-plus displays.
The Philips 36M4C5500P uses a Fast VA panel and features a WQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440. That resolution is familiar to ultrawide gaming fans, offering a wide field of view and sharp image quality while remaining easier to drive than 4K. The larger 36-inch panel gives users more screen space than typical 34-inch models, making it appealing for gaming, multitasking, and entertainment.
A key highlight is the monitor’s 260Hz refresh rate, which puts it firmly in high-performance gaming territory. Combined with a 1ms GtG response time, the display is designed to deliver smooth motion and quick responsiveness in fast-paced games. While its ultrawide format is especially well suited for immersive single-player titles, racing games, flight simulators, and open-world adventures, the high refresh rate also makes it capable enough for competitive gaming.
The screen also features a 1500R curvature, helping wrap the display around the viewer’s field of vision. This curve is intended to make gameplay feel more natural and engaging, especially on a wider panel where edge-to-edge visibility can matter. For gamers who enjoy cinematic visuals, the combination of a curved ultrawide design and a high refresh rate could make the 36M4C5500P an attractive option.
Brightness reaches up to 350 nits in standard use, while HDR mode increases brightness to 450 nits, with a peak of 500 nits. This should help improve highlights and contrast in supported content, though the monitor’s biggest strength appears to be its blend of size, speed, and color performance.
Philips has also equipped the 36M4C5500P with strong color coverage. The display is rated for 126% sRGB, 105% NTSC, 91% Adobe RGB, and 95% DCI-P3. It also offers Delta E under 2, which points to solid color accuracy out of the box. That makes the monitor useful not only for gaming but also for creators, editors, and users who need dependable color reproduction for visual work.
For long gaming or work sessions, the monitor includes an anti-glare coating to reduce reflections and improve comfort in brighter rooms. This is a practical addition for users who spend hours in front of their screen, whether gaming, editing, streaming, or handling productivity tasks.
Connectivity includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input, giving users suitable options for high-resolution, high-refresh-rate output. A 3.5mm audio jack is also included. However, the monitor does not appear to include USB ports for peripherals, which may be a drawback for users who prefer built-in USB hub functionality.
Philips has not yet confirmed pricing for the 36M4C5500P. Availability is expected for the APAC region, though wider release plans have not been detailed.
With its 36-inch curved ultrawide panel, 3440 x 1440 resolution, 260Hz refresh rate, and strong color specifications, the Philips 36M4C5500P brings something fresh to the gaming monitor market. It fills the gap between popular 34-inch ultrawide monitors and much larger gaming displays, offering a compelling middle ground for users who want speed, immersion, and extra screen space in one package.
