A fresh leak is adding more weight to the idea that Oppo is preparing a smaller version of its new smartwatch, the Oppo Watch X3. The standard Watch X3, recently introduced in China alongside the Find N6 foldable phone, comes with a large 1.5-inch display. While that big screen will appeal to users who want a more phone-like experience on the wrist, it can feel oversized for people with smaller wrists or anyone who prefers a lighter, more compact smartwatch.
That’s where the rumored Oppo Watch X3 Mini comes in. Oppo followed this exact playbook last year: the Oppo Watch X2 launched first, and later a smaller Oppo Watch X2 Mini arrived for buyers who wanted the same general look and smartwatch experience in a more comfortable size. Now, a well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, reports that multiple upcoming Oppo devices have been registered, and the Oppo Watch X3 Mini is included on that list—another strong hint that the smaller model is real and in development.
No official specifications have surfaced yet, but it’s reasonable to expect several changes based on how “Mini” smartwatch variants typically work. The Oppo Watch X3 Mini should feature a smaller case and a smaller display, making it better suited for everyday wear, sleep tracking, and workouts where a bulky watch can get in the way. A reduced size also usually means a smaller battery compared to the larger model, simply because there’s less internal space to work with. Depending on Oppo’s approach, the Mini could also come with slight differences in materials or potentially fewer premium health features to keep costs down, though nothing has been confirmed.
Timing is also still unclear. This particular leak doesn’t include a launch date, but an earlier report pointed to an April release window. If Oppo sticks to that schedule, the Oppo Watch X3 Mini could be announced soon, especially as interest builds around alternative smartwatch sizes.
There’s also an important twist for buyers outside China. The Oppo Watch X3 itself hasn’t been confirmed for a global launch, but there’s speculation it could appear in other regions under the OnePlus name, potentially as the OnePlus Watch 4. If Oppo repeats what it did last generation—where the Watch X2 Mini was also sold as the OnePlus Watch 3 43mm—then the Oppo Watch X3 Mini may likewise get a OnePlus-branded version for additional markets.
For anyone who likes the design and idea of the Oppo Watch X3 but doesn’t want a 1.5-inch wearable on their wrist, the rumored Mini model is shaping up to be the one worth waiting for.
