OpenAI may be changing the direction of its consumer hardware plans, with a new report suggesting the company is now focusing on a screen-free smart speaker powered by ChatGPT. The device is expected to serve as one of OpenAI’s first major steps into the AI hardware market, potentially giving users a more natural, personal, and always-available way to interact with artificial intelligence at home.
The reported shift comes shortly after Apple filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of using proprietary technology, circuit designs, and component architecture linked to future consumer AI devices.
