Excitement is building in the tech community as leaks suggest impressive upgrades for the upcoming OnePlus Ace 5, poised to set a new standard in the affordable flagship category. Following OnePlus’s launch of its latest model, the OnePlus 13, the company appears ready to roll out a successor to the OnePlus Ace 3. Anticipated to debut globally as the OnePlus 13R, this device is drawing attention thanks to its rumored features.
Tipped on social media platform Weibo, the OnePlus Ace 5 will reportedly sport a stunning 6.78-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO display, ensuring users an exceptional visual experience. Under the hood, it is expected to be fueled by the advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, marking a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in its predecessor, the OnePlus Ace 3 or OnePlus 12R.
Memory and storage will see a boost too, with the Ace 5 rumored to offer 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a hefty 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Although there’s speculation of various configurations, whether all will boast UFS 4.0 storage remains unanswered.
Photography enthusiasts might experience a bit of déjà vu, as the Ace 5 is said to maintain the same camera setup as its predecessor. Onboard will be a 16MP front camera, accompanied by a trio at the back, including a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide angle lens, and a 2MP sensor, keeping in line with the previous model’s specifications.
However, where the Ace 5 truly shines is its reported battery and charging enhancements. With a significant increase, the device is expected to house a battery of at least 6,000mAh, supporting a 100W fast charging system aimed at minimizing downtime.
OnePlus enthusiasts can also look forward to the Ace 5 launching with ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, whereas its global counterpart, the OnePlus 13R, is projected to feature Android 15-based OxygenOS 15.
The tech community eagerly anticipates official announcements, with reports suggesting the OnePlus Ace 5 might be unveiled in December. The global version, the OnePlus 13R, could potentially make its debut alongside the international release of the OnePlus 13. With these enticing specs, OnePlus is setting the stage for what could be a compelling addition to the market.
