OnePlus 16 Edges Closer to China Launch as Certification Listing Appears
The OnePlus 16 appears to be moving one step closer to launch in China, with a newly certified device hinting that the company’s next flagship phone may soon become official. While a wide international release looks unlikely, the phone is already generating attention thanks to rumored high-end specifications, a massive battery, and a potentially upgraded camera system.
OnePlus has previously indicated that it will no longer introduce new products in North America and Europe, making a broad global rollout for the OnePlus 16 doubtful. There have also been claims that the device may not arrive in India, although OnePlus continues to release some new models in that market, including the more affordable OnePlus N6x.
For China, however, the OnePlus 16 seems firmly on track. The company has already teased the upcoming flagship during the Snapdragon Gaming Technology Awards event, and now a device with the model number PYB110 has received SRRC certification in the country. The certification listing does not officially reveal the phone’s retail name, but reliable industry chatter suggests this model could be the OnePlus 16.
The SRRC listing confirms support for 5G, including the n79 band, along with GSM, WCDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. While the certification does not reveal much else, earlier leaks have already painted a clearer picture of what buyers may be able to expect from OnePlus’ next flagship smartphone.
The OnePlus 16 is rumored to feature a 6.78-inch display, matching the size of the OnePlus 15. However, the screen could receive a major upgrade with a 185Hz refresh rate, making it especially appealing for mobile gamers and users who want ultra-smooth scrolling and fast touch response.
Battery life may also be one of the phone’s biggest selling points. Leaks suggest the OnePlus 16 could pack a huge battery of around 9,000mAh, which would be unusually large for a flagship smartphone. If true, this could give the device a major advantage for gaming, streaming, photography, and heavy daily use.
Performance is expected to be another highlight. The OnePlus 16 may use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, which is rumored to be built on a 2nm process. The phone may also support LPDDR6 RAM, potentially delivering faster speeds and improved power efficiency compared with current-generation flagship devices.
The camera system could see a significant upgrade as well. The OnePlus 16 is rumored to feature a 200MP main camera, replacing the 50MP main sensor found on the OnePlus 15. The ultrawide and telephoto cameras may remain at 50MP, giving the device a versatile triple-camera setup aimed at users who want sharper photos, better zoom performance, and stronger overall imaging capabilities.
Pricing may increase with the new model. One leak suggests the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version of the OnePlus 16 could cost CNY 5,499, which is around $815. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 with the same memory and storage configuration currently sells for CNY 5,099, or about $755, in China. An 8GB RAM variant may also be offered, which could give buyers a slightly more affordable option.
With SRRC certification now in place and teasers already underway, the OnePlus 16 launch in China appears to be approaching. While availability outside China remains uncertain, the rumored specifications suggest that OnePlus is preparing a powerful flagship with a fast display, next-generation performance, a huge battery, and a major camera upgrade.
