While the OnePlus 15 is gearing up for its global debut on November 13 following its late-October launch in China, the OnePlus 13 just picked up a major new reason to stick around: official LineageOS 23 support.
This move gives the OnePlus 13 a fresh software path beyond OxygenOS. Out of the box, the phone currently runs OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15, with OxygenOS 16 still in public beta. LineageOS 23, by contrast, brings Android 16 along with a handful of notable enhancements over the previous release, including:
– Predictive back navigation for more fluid gesture control
– A refined Aperture camera app experience
– LineageOS’ new Twelve music player
There is one caveat. Google has not yet pushed Android 16 QPR1 to the Android Open Source Project, which means LineageOS cannot incorporate that quarterly platform release just yet. Even so, the official LineageOS 23 build delivers the key Android 16 upgrade right now.
The timing also follows broader custom ROM momentum across the lineup. The OnePlus 12 has become eligible for Android 16-based custom builds, and the OnePlus 12R can also be flashed with LineageOS. It remains unclear if or when the newer OnePlus 13R will receive the same treatment; pricing for that model currently hovers around the mid-$500 range at retail.
If you’re considering making the jump, official installation instructions are available on the LineageOS wiki. As always, ensure you follow the guidance carefully and back up your data before proceeding.
Meanwhile, for those eyeing new hardware, OnePlus is preparing to roll out the OnePlus 15 globally, with launch offers already open for sign-up in many regions. But if you own a OnePlus 13 and prefer clean, flexible software with long-term community support, official LineageOS 23 support makes this device feel new again.
