Olight Unveils Ostation V8 Pro: AA/AAA Smart Charger Doubles as a Compact Power Bank

Olight is preparing to roll out two new compact battery charging stations, the Ostation V8 and Ostation V8 Pro, designed for people who regularly juggle AA and AAA cells at home, at work, or on the go. Each model can charge up to eight batteries at once, making them a practical option for households with lots of battery-powered gear like remotes, toys, controllers, flashlights, microphones, and handheld gadgets.

Both chargers support standard NiMH rechargeable batteries as well as Olight’s newer 1.5V lithium-ion cells. Olight is now labeling these lithium-ion batteries as “Ecolast.” At the moment, Ecolast is only offered in the AA size, but the company has indicated it’s working on expanding the lineup—something that could matter to anyone who wants consistent performance across the common battery formats.

The biggest difference between the two models isn’t charging performance, but what happens after your batteries are charged. The Ostation V8 Pro adds a power bank function, allowing you to use installed AA or AAA batteries to charge devices such as a smartphone. When paired with Olight’s Ecolast cells, the Pro model is expected to deliver around 24Wh of available energy. In real-world terms, that’s typically enough to fully charge many smartphones once, since many phone batteries come in under 20Wh. For travel, emergency kits, car glove boxes, and power-outage prep, that extra flexibility could be the deciding factor.

The standard Ostation V8 focuses more on being a straightforward charging dock. It skips the built-in power bank capability and also does without an integrated cable, so it’s a better fit for buyers who mainly want a neat, compact charging solution that stays in one place.

One feature you won’t be giving up by choosing the non-Pro is visibility into what’s going on. Both versions include a status display, so you can still monitor charging progress and battery status without guessing.

For now, Olight is positioning this as an early announcement. Availability is expected soon, while pricing details are still to come. Alongside the V8 reveal, the company has also introduced the Ostation 2 and Ostation 2 Pro in the US market, with the Ostation 2 Pro listed at $112 for Prime subscribers and $140 for non-Prime customers at the time of writing. International rollout details remain unclear.

There’s also a notable branding shift happening at the same time. Ostation is now being treated as a separate brand rather than simply another Olight accessory line, with its own dedicated web presence under the Ostationpower name. That move strongly suggests Olight plans to expand the Ostation charging and power product family further, while keeping it distinct from its larger flashlight-focused catalog.
