NVIDIA and MediaTek are making waves in the tech world with their collaborative project aimed at revolutionizing mainstream desktop and laptop processors. A glimpse of the NVIDIA N1 chip has surfaced online, stirring up excitement.
The NVIDIA N1X has scored over 3,000 in single-core and 18,000 in multi-core tests on Geekbench, hinting that NVIDIA is ready to take on its competitors. Although the N1 series wasn’t highlighted at Computex, the company showcased its powerful DGX Spark system. The N1 series aims to bring more affordable CPU options to everyday consumers.
Unlike the DGX Spark, designed for high-performance tasks, the NVIDIA N1X targets mainstream needs. It reportedly features the same number of ARM cores as the GB10, with 10 Cortex-X925 and 10 Cortex-A725 cores. A preliminary test showed the chip working on an HP system with an Ubuntu 24.04.1 OS and 128 GB of RAM. The chip has a base clock of 2.81 GHz and a boost clock reaching around 4 GHz, securing impressive single and multi-core scores.
While Geekbench 6 scores can vary significantly, early benchmarks suggest the N1X is competitive with current AMD and Intel processors. The chip’s performance aligns with the Core Ultra series 2 and Zen 5-based Strix Halo processors, which is promising news for NVIDIA.
Although NVIDIA hasn’t officially announced the N1 series, anticipation is building for more benchmarks in the coming weeks. While a launch this year seems unlikely, tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the official reveal in the months ahead.
