NVIDIA, the American tech giant renowned for its cutting-edge graphics technology, is reportedly planning to expand its presence in Taiwan by establishing a second headquarters. This move is seen as CEO Jensen Huang’s commitment to his promise of a dedicated facility for local employees.
Taiwan has been identified as a pivotal player in NVIDIA’s global success. The CEO himself has paid tribute to the nation’s significance in numerous speeches, underscoring its integral role in the firm’s achievements. According to reports, NVIDIA is on the lookout for up to 3 hectares of land for this ambitious project. However, acquiring such a vast area in Taipei City has proven challenging. In the meantime, NVIDIA has secured a 10,000-square-foot facility in Taipei’s Nangang District as a temporary working space. Despite these hurdles, their commitment to the Taiwanese headquarters remains firm, driven by the value observed from their US headquarters.
Furthermore, news of developing a Research & Development center in Taiwan has been previously announced by NVIDIA, along with plans to employ approximately 1,000 engineers. It is likely that the proposed headquarters will align with this initiative, underscoring NVIDIA’s strategic expansion in Taiwan. The presence of a robust supply chain and corporate partners in the region further accentuates Taiwan’s importance for NVIDIA.
