NVIDIA is rumored to be tightening shipments of its RTX 5060 series to avoid a glut of inventory and keep prices from slipping, even as GPU supply finally looks stable at retail.
According to industry chatter, allocations for the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti are being reduced by roughly 15%, while the standard RTX 5060 could see cuts of up to 30%. The move is described as temporary and aimed at balancing supply and demand so that board partners aren’t pushed into discounting cards and sacrificing margins.
Both cards use GB206 silicon and target the budget to lower mid-range market, a sweet spot for mainstream gaming builds. The RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB model has been especially popular; notably, the supply trim is said to affect only the 8 GB edition of the 5060 Ti. With partner inventories already healthy, scaling back fresh shipments gives NVIDIA and AIBs more control over pricing.
What this means for buyers:
– Expect firmer pricing on RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti models in the near term, with fewer deep discounts.
– Availability may feel tighter starting this month, though the duration of the cutback isn’t clear.
– If demand stays strong, prices could hold or even edge higher until shipments normalize.
This isn’t the first time the company has dialed back supply after a “paper launch” period gave way to broader availability. In several regions, certain RTX 50-series models are already commanding higher street prices, and the brand continues to gain share in the discrete GPU market.
If you’re shopping in the mid-range, keep an eye on stock alerts and promotions. The RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB may remain the more consistently available option, while the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti 8 GB could be harder to find at aggressive prices until the supply tap opens back up.
