Nubia Z70 Ultra Set to Surpass Huawei Mate 70 with Cutting-Edge Display and Superior Qualcomm Processor

The anticipated Mate 70 series, expected to launch in late 2024, is rumored to be Huawei’s most advanced candy-bar smartphones yet, with whispers suggesting a radically clean design that might even eliminate punch-holes in their displays. This striking rumor, however, might be too ambitious to be accurate.

Buzz has been circulating about a potential Mate-series breakthrough—a camera-under-panel display for the successor to the Mate 60 line. Accompanying leaks, including a hands-on photo, hint at an edge-to-edge 1.5K display complemented by rear “OV50K + variable-aperture” cameras. However, prominent leaker Digital Chat Station has clarified that these features might belong to the upcoming Nubia Z70 Ultra, not the Mate 70, as previously speculated by another tipster on Weibo.

The Nubia Z70 Ultra, partially hidden under a “confidentiality” case in the leaked image, appears to be an evolution from the Z60 Ultra Leading Edition. Digital Chat Station points out its modern design with flat edges and a dedicated Camera Control-style key adjacent to a power button highlighted in Nubia’s signature red. The Z70 Ultra is touted to be relatively slim while packing a cutting-edge silicon-anode battery with a capacity of up to 6,000mAh. It’s also expected to feature the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (or Elite) processor, a distinction the Mate 70 might not share.

Huawei’s real challenge lies in standing out during its late 2024 debut, especially considering the excitement around its innovative tri-folding counterpart, the Mate XT, which has already hit the market. If the rumors are true, the Mate 70 series will need to bring something truly groundbreaking to the table to capture consumer interest.

As tech enthusiasts eagerly await these next-gen smartphones, it’s clear that 2024 will be a pivotal year for mobile technology, filled with fierce competition and potential innovation.
